Your friend tells you that “China Biotech Systems” is a great company and that you should buy their stock right away. Is this deal for real? Learn how to quickly spot stocks that are too risky or ideas that might be worth more research. Build your knowledge and master the skills that will enable you to make prudent, well-reasoned decisions about buying, selling, and trading. In this hands-on course, each student will research an actual company, evaluating its growth potential, financial strength, and profitability and discussing its possible risks and rewards as an investment. You will learn how to use readily available resources such as Morningstar, Value Line, and individual company websites to acquire in-depth stock information. You’ll also master the basics of stock charts, and will learn about profit-taking and sell disciplines that will preserve your gains and help you avoid big losses. At our “investment round table,” the class will select its favorite stocks and create a well-diversified model portfolio. No prior knowledge of accounting or investments is required, but students must have email and internet access outside of class.

A $25 materials fee for a course packet is payable to the instructor at the first meeting.
