Lately even younger investors have begun to discover bonds, and money has been pouring into bond mutual funds. Are bonds and bond funds safe or is this just another investment fad? This course explores the basics of the bond market including the different types of bonds (including municipal bonds, Treasury and other types of bonds) and how to buy them directly or through bond mutual funds. We will also discuss how to select a bond mutual fund, what kinds of returns to expect from different typs of bonds and risks associated with different types of bond investments. Finally, we will explore safe alternatives to bond funds that investors should also consider.
