Would you like to learn about investing and practical wealth-building but don't know where to start? This course begins with the basics and demystifies investment terms and jargon defining money market accounts, certificates of deposit, savings accounts, stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. With weekly hand-on exercises you will master practical money management skills such as spotting high fees and charges on account statements and mutual fund prospectuses. Learn what really matters when you pick mutual funds (hint: it's not the number of stars). Find out how to protect yourself from salesmen and speculators and use the markets and the financial services industry to your best advantage. Beginners and questions are welcome in this basic and comprehensive course designed to teach you the concepts you need to make safe, sound, well reasoned decisions about your investments. A $20 materials fee for a course material packet is payable to the instructor at the first meeting.
